I adore the physicality of upholstery, of seeing a project being stripped back to the bare bones, then slowly building it up again, to come back to life and leave your hands, fully formed, to be treasured all over again. I previously taught upholstery at the UK’s leading modern upholstery school in Manchester. Here I instructed students on how to sew, reupholster and create bespoke pieces personal to them. I also ran my own business, Kimchi Upholstery, based in Manchester, alongside teaching. I have now set up my own workshop in Prestwich, where I live, to provide upholstery and restoration to the North of Manchester. It used to belong to the customer's grandad. Covered in Kirkby, Leaf II in pine green. It’s a 100% recycled wool using yarns from the fashion industry. The back rest is square stitched and shallow buttoned in the front and back.
